June 3-8, 2019 | Pescara
The Adriatica 2019 Summer School is a joint initiative of the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Technologies - ITAB, University “G. d'Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara and of the CIMeC Center for Mind/Brain Sciences, University of Trento.
Venue
The school will take place in an enchanting venue by the Adriatic Sea in the Pescara province located in the green Abruzzo region
Topics
The school will address, in a multi-scale approach, the interaction between the body and the neural dynamics that support human perception and behaviour. More specifically, we will cover the following topics:
- how the brain integrates information from the body and the environment, with focus on the synchronization of neural oscillations locally and at large-scale;
- how neural oscillations provide a temporal code for multisensory information processing;
- how brain-body information transfer can be modelled and measured.
The school is structured as a study retreat and the programme will give the students the opportunity to:
- debate with world-leading experts from different fields: experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neurophysiology, physics and neural modelling;
- work on a “mock” research project under the supervision of the same experts;
- learn a key practical challenge in this area on how collecting data from different sources and combine the information in a coherent way (data fusion);
- discuss about how following an open data sharing-oriented standard for dataset representation is a way to both properly integrate diverse pieces of information and collate contributions from different domains.
