The neuroinformatics laboratory (NILab) rises as a collaboration between FBK and CIMeC in order to promote interdisciplinary research in cognitive neuroscience. Neuroinformatics stands at the intersection of neuroscience and information science, and it provides theories and technologies for managing, analyzing, and modeling data collected with modern instruments of brain inspection used within the neuroscience community.
The NiLab mission is manifold spanning from scientific to technological aspects, with a further teaching activity. The scientific research activity covers mostly the design and the development of novel models for the integration, analysis, and interpretation of unimodal and multimodal brain-imaging data. A byproduct of the research activity is the development of a series of software instruments providing a competitive advantage in the cognitive neuroscience community. On the other hand, NiLab aims to provide technological instruments to manage the data collected in the laboratories of CIMeC. Part of the objectives of NILab includes supporting activities to the Doctoral Program in Cognitive and Brain Sciences held by the University of Trento.
